This production was meant to be done during covid. Instead we ended up doing a song selection from Dogfight.
I displayed the erasure of memory through trauma and PTSD, and exemplify the desentization of military personnel and the dissociative aspect of civilian life for soldiers, through the suffocation of personal identity. I pursued the realistic portrayal of female counter culture through artists and poets. I endeavored to show duality of humanity through the combination of traditional beauty standards of the period and traditional unattractive ideology.
By using replacive patterning, ombring, bleach, and fabric modification I was able to show the way memories are distorted by the brain through the lens of trauma. I examine various styles of counter culture to make informed decisions about the women in the play. This show is set on the precipice of change, by displaying counter culture honestly and giving these women power, the conversation shifts. Rather than discussing Ugly and Pretty, I address the ideas of Traditional and Non-Traditional.
