Recently I was asked to make a puppet for a production of First Date the Musical. Making puppets is something I have always loved to do. The first time I was exposed to puppet making was my freshman year of college. During this time I was in a class about making puppets and really enjoyed developing these characters that are, essentially, an extension of the actor.
The puppet I made is an over glorified sock puppet, he is a muppet style of puppet with a single dowel control. The clothing he is wearing is made from fabric that was laying around by work space. He was a pretty easy project to make and I really enjoyed getting a chance to work with puppets again.
